So I’ve read the script more carefully today and I’m a bit confused as to what this film is trying to achieve. It is essentially a dialogue between two people that lacks any tension or purpose. It starts off slow and by the end where the expectations have grown that something will happen, nothing happens. I’m also still very confused about how jazz ties in with all of this. I think he is going for the ‘Louie’ sort of vibe where the comedy is dry and the pacing is slow with a humble atmosphere. However, jazz is justified in ‘Louie’ as it’s based in New York where he spends most of his time in jazzy clubs while this film is based in an Australian backyard. I will have to enquire the director about this during our up-coming meeting. In the meantime, I will continue the research into the ‘Louie’ jazz.
